In the Spring of 2020, the founder of the ASbrew Café, Philip Lichter took a look at the businesses surrounding his insurance company: GPA Insurance and saw a unique opportunity to serve incredible coffee to the local community of Tempe. The easiest option would’ve been to source cheap coffee, automate everything, and pay minimum wage to keep warm bodies in the shop. Instead, Philip consulted with Patrick O’Malley, the founder of the International Barista & Coffee Academy (IBCA) and owner of infusion Coffee—Arizona’s premier specialty coffee experts.
With Patrick’s expertise and support, Philip designed a high-end coffee shop from the ground up with state-of-the-art espresso equipment and a high standard of quality. Through ASbrew, we want to build and foster community by making people the best coffee they’ve ever had. We do this with high-quality tools, perfect water filtration, great training, and an obsessive focus on the customer experience.
We don’t just want to be just any coffee shop. We want to be a launching point for our team to acquire coffee knowledge, make amazing beverages and highlight the love that goes into every cup of coffee.
From seed to cup, one coffee bean requires the hard work of hundreds of people. Farmers pick individual coffee cherries and carry them in baskets to washing stations. Workers mill them, dry them, and sort through every bean (often by hand) to remove debris and ensure quality. The coffee seeds are then loaded onto enormous shipping crates and taken across the ocean for green buyers to inspect and evaluate, at which point a sample is sent to Infusion’s roasting team for consideration. After dozens of recipe refinements from a team with decades of experience, the beans are roasted, packaged, and sent to you. We take pride in putting the finishing touches on a product we truly believe is the best Arizona has to offer. We invite you to share in that goal and responsibility.
